WORKINGTON Town are throwing open their doors early tonight as they look for a four-figure crowd against Ellery Hanley’s Doncaster.
The club is running a special drinks promotion, with the Derwent Lounge and sponsors’ bar open from 6pm, with lager and bitter at £1.50 a pint, two hours ahead of the kick off against the unbeaten title challengers. The Rough ‘n’ Ready bar opens at 7pm.
Admission prices have also been slashed, with grandstand seats cut from £13 to £6, and it will cost just a fiver to stand, down from £11.
“The club is making a big effort, and we want as many supporters at this game as possible,” said director Kevin Moss. “We are looking for a bumper night.”
Doncaster’s Zeb Luisi (knee) and Corey Lawrie (concussion), April’s NL2 player-of-the-month, are both expected to have fully recovered from their recent problems.
But former Aussie international Chris McKenna is still suffering from the hamstring injury that has plagued him over recent weeks.
“He’s looking fit but is not yet training at 100%,” said centre Andreas Bauer. “The week’s rest has freshened us up and given time to heal our bodies.
“Now we’re all champing at the bit to play. We’ve won six from six, the best record the club’s had in a while.
“It’s bringing people out of the woodwork, and numbers of our travelling fans have been outnumbering home fans. It’s really promising.”
