Judges pick out hospital stars

JUDGES have studied hundreds of entries to reveal the final shortlist for north Cumbria’s first ever Celebrating Excellence NHS Awards.

mbNHS1
Specialist role: Dietician Lorna Harrison

The event – which could become an annual celebration – aims to recognise the hard work and dedication of health workers who go above and beyond the call of duty in the name of patient care.

It is being organised by the North Cumbria Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Cumberland Infirmary, West Cumberland Hospital and Penrith Birthing Centre.

Staff members, managers and members of the public were given a chance to nominate individuals and teams in a total of 14 different categories.

An independent panel of judges had the difficult job of sifting through the nominations to come up with two finalists in each category.

This week The Cumberland News can reveal the full shortlist, while the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Rheged, Penrith, on June 12.
