Third year students will be showing their final year work, which includes ceramics, millinery, embroidery, sculpture, painting, film and jewellery.

The work at the Brampton Road campus is by students on the following courses: contemporary applied arts, photography, graphic design, media production, multimedia design and digital animation and performing arts.

For the first time there will be an opportunity to view a selection of work by students on foundation degree courses.

The fine art show is being displayed at the Caldewgate campus, on Kendal Street, near Shaddongate.

Maggi Toner-Edgar, contemporary applied arts course leader, said: “The students work with constructed textiles, embroidery, printed textiles or ceramics, or they can combine two. They have done brilliantly and really put their own slant on things. That’s the beauty of the course, it is very open and gives people plenty of freedom.”

The Faculty of the Arts Degree Show 2008 runs from Wednesday, June 18 to Wednesday, June 25 at University of Cumbria’s Brampton Road Campus and Caldewgate campus, Kendal Road. Both exhibitions are open 10am-4pm, closed Sunday. Admission is free.
