Funeral parade their talent

WELSH rock band Funeral For A Friend are coming to Whitehaven.

In another big coup for the Civic Hall they have managed to secure the top band for a gig on October 23. Tickets go on sale today.

Funeral For A Friend have had three Top 20 singles, a gold-certified debut album, headlined the second stage of the world famous Reading/Leeds Festival and won Kerrang's Best Newcomer award.

The band formed in early 2002 and were named after the song Funeral For A Friend by Florida group Planes Mistaken For Stars.

Their debut album was Casually Dressed And Deep In Conversation which spawned a number of hit singles.

The single Streetcar strengthened the band’s reputation, with their second album Hours released in June 2005.

A third album, Tales Don't Tell Themselves, was released in May 2007.

The band has also received much critical praise in the States.

The band comprises Matt Davies on vocals; Kris Coombs-Roberts on guitar; Darran Smith on guitar; Gareth Davies on bass and Ryan Richards on drums.

They will be releasing their single Waterfront Dance Club/Beneath The Burning Tree on July 7.

They are playing the likes of Manchester Academy 3, Glasgow King Tuts and London Kings College.
