‘Breathalyse yourself the next day’
Last updated 12:20, Monday, 14 July 2008
A CAMPAIGN group is encouraging motorists to carry a personal breathalyser.
A survey of 4,000 people showed around half drive the morning after a moderate night out completely unaware they are still over the legal drink drive limit.
Statistics show four pints of beer or three large glasses of wine can take as long as 12 hours to leave your system.
Katie Shephard, fundraising manager at national road safety charity BRAKE, said: “Nearly one in six of all deaths on the road involves drivers who are over the legal alcohol limit.
“A general rule should be not to drive if you feel at all hungover, but testing yourself with an accurate personal breathalyser the next morning can help determine whether you are safe to drive.”
Nearly one in five convicted drink-drivers are caught the morning after.
AlcoSense(TM) Elite costs £60 and is available to buy at www.alcosense.co.uk or on 0800 195 0088.
