Kazoo Funk Orchestra lined up for Wickerman Festival warm-up

Kazoo Funk Orchestra

Press Release:

After celebrating one year of promoting live music in Annan last month, The Basement have bagged another exclusive by hosting the official warm-up party for the locally-based forthcoming Wickerman Festival on Friday 18th July. Featuring 3 bands that will be playing the award winning and internationally renowned event, the promoters are expecting it to be a sell-out night that will be remembered for a very long time.

Their spokesperson said: ‘We’ve got The Kazoo Funk Orchestra headlining who were without a doubt, one of the highlights of last years Wickerman and were apparently rebooked for 2008 immediately after they left the stage.’

Also playing the Wickerman warm-up are Rodan from Glasgow who after recently recording in the studio with producer Tom McNeice have been getting a lot attention from the a&r community. Opening the night will be Carlisle’s Stars Of Track & Field. With many festivals and gigs booked already, they started their summer early by being in the top 5 on MTV’s ‘Get Seen, Get Heard!’ competition. As well as the live music, there will also be a competition to win tickets for the festival.

When asked about The Basement’s ties to The Wickerman Festival, the spokesperson commented: ‘We’re doing something that takes a massive amount of work to put together. Dumfriesshire is almost starved of originality when it comes to music and I think the organisers see that we’re like them, fiercely independent, and changing things for the better. Hosting this is fantastic opportunity not only for us, but also for Annan and anyone that loves going to gigs.’
