A SCENIC Lake District road race has a new venue and will be run on a quieter and safer route.
The New Balance Newlands Valley Round is organised by Keswick Athletic Club and takes place on Wednesday from 7.30pm from the Newlands Adventure Centre at Stair.
The traditional race around the Newlands Valley was formerly called the Swinside Six.
It continues in popularity using a new venue and on a quieter and safer route, measuring 9km.
Starting at Stair, it runs through Swinside, Little Braithwaite, along the Newlands Valley road to the remains of the Purple House, returning via Little Town to finish at Stair.
Last year 130 competitors tackled the demanding course.
Race organiser Alan Ritchie said: “The terrain may suit local road and fell runners, but the field will also include a number of visitors staying in the area.”
There may be some traffic congestion at Stair during the time of the race.
