Gall to hold Cheltenham talks this week

Carlisle United striker Kevin Gall is heading to Cheltenham Town later this week to discuss a possible move.
Blues manager John Ward told the out-of-favour forward that he could find himself a new club at the end of last season.
There have been no firm offers made for the striker but Robins boss Keith Downing admitted last week that Gall is on his radar. The former Newcastle trainee will meet the Cheltenham boss later this week but believes he still has a point to prove at Brunton Park.
“Cheltenham have been in touch and I am going down there later this week to meet them,” he said.
“I will look around and listen to what they have to say before I make any decision.
“I am in a funny situation right now because I have been told I can leave Carlisle but I have come back to pre-season fit and I have been working hard to prove that I can still do a job here.
“I know that if I get my head down and do my best to show the manager what I can do then I can’t be overlooked all of the time.”
Cheltenham are not the only side looking at the speedy striker. A string of League One and Two clubs have expressed an interest in signing him.
He said: “Cheltenham will be the first club I have been to see and there are a few offers available for me.
“John Ward has been great and told me that he will back any decision I make. He won’t step in my way if I decide to move on because all I want to do is play football, that is the most important thing.
“If I was told by a club that I would be playing regular football then I would be caught in two minds. Should I stay and fight or should I go give myself a fresh start.
“It is frustrating for me because I have seen others given a chance to play and I wished it was me but I didn’t grumble, I kept my head down and worked hard in training.”
Gall went on trial at Major League Soccer side Toronto in March, and despite impressing on trial he turned down the offer of a four year deal.
“I was offered a four year deal with Toronto, which not many people know about,” said the 26-year-old.
“The deal was not right for me because in America, the league own your contract and I would have been at Toronto for a couple of years but after that I may have been drafted to another club thousands of miles away. I didn’t want that for my family.
“It was a great place and I enjoyed my time there. I knew the coach John Carver from my time at Newcastle and they have signed Laurent Robert, who would have been great to play with, but my gut feeling was telling me to go back to Carlisle and see out the last year of my contract.”
Gall has been played as a makeshift right winger in recent seasons. A position he has been willing to fill-in at but he would prefer a central role.
He said: “The last time I was given a full season as a centre forward was at Yeovil and I scored a lot of goals. Since then I have filled in on the right wing, which I am happy to do.
Gall’s last appearance in a Carlisle shirt came in 1-0 defeat to Doncaster in January before he was sent out on loan to League Two Darlington.
