Farmers’ market

THE last of this summer’s Pooley Bridge Farmers’ Markets takes place tomorrow.

Started in 2004 as a sister Market to the Orton Farmer’s Market, more than 15 stalls now regularly offer a range of meats, home produce and plants from the local area.

Despite the dreadful summer weather, visitor numbers to the market have been up on previous years and stallholders are keen to see the market return in April next year.

“It is good to have a thriving market on the doorstep rather than having to travel further afield,” said Jane Emerson of beef and venison producers Deer n’ Dexter.

“We have always attracted plenty of people to look and see but this seems to have translated into shopping and buying this year which has been great.”
