HOW THEY MET: Both from Carlisle, they met at a friend’s party in 2002.

PROPOSAL: Under the stars in the Sahara Desert, July 2006.

VENUE: Our Lady and St Joseph’s, Carlisle, on May 24.

THEME: Purple and hearts.

 

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: An ivory strapless full dress, decorated in pearls and crystals with a low back and a long train. A waist-length veil with crystal detail from The Wedding Barn, Appleby.

GROOMSMEN: Kevin Illing-worth, 29, was best man. Simon Tucker, 27, Steve Wood, 26, and Simon Turner, 24, were ushers. They wore grey suits with silver grey ties and waistcoats supplied by Greenwoods.

BRIDESMAIDS: Jenny Pape, 24, Angela Binns, 25, the bride’s sister Jane Rigby, 21, and the groom’s sister Gemma Braniff, 27, were bridesmaids. They wore eggplant-coloured, strapless, full-length dresses from The Wedding Barn.

FLOWERS: A hand-tied bouquet of pink and purple roses with calla lilies tied decorated with diamante gems.

TRANSPORT: A Rolls Royce from Silver Lady Wedding Cars, of Longtown, and a Jaguar borrowed from friends Kevan and Heather Coady.

RECEPTION: A Champagne reception at The Crown Hotel, Wetheral for 60 guests with a further 65 in the evening.

FAVOURS: Cumbrian guest ales for the men and sweets for the ladies – made by the groom’s mum Jackie Braniff and the groom’s nana Peggy Rodway. They also made the wedding stationery.

CAKE: A three-tier fruit cake topped with figurines of the bride and groom and their wedding party. Individual sponge cup cakes decorated with purple and pink roses made by Jackie Braniff.

FIRST DANCE: Fields of Gold by Sting.

ENTERTAINMENT: Aztec disco, Thrice Brewed ceilidh.

HONEYMOON: A short break in York and Santorini in July.

PHOTOGRAPHER: Louise Porter, of Carlisle.

VIDEOGRAPHER: The bride’s cousin Michael Parker.
