Carlisle Utd's on-loan keeper Ben Alnwick goes back to Spurs

On-loan Carlisle United keeper Ben Alnwick today opted to return to Spurs in a bid to impress new White Hart Lane boss Harry Redknapp.
Alnwick’s loan spell was due to end after Saturday’s home clash with Cheltenham but he is keen to return to London following a change of management at Spurs.
Redknapp is reported to have lost faith with his current first-choice Heurelho Gomes, who was at fault for both Fulham goals in Spurs’ 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage at the weekend, and Alnwick wants to press his claims for a first-team spot.
Ben Williams, whose loss of form and confidence paved the way for Alnwick’s arrival, could be set for a recall, but Carlisle caretaker boss Greg Abbott has not ruled out bringing in another keeper on loan.
Abbott said: “Ben is going back to stay with Spurs for the near future.
He’s a young lad who’s trying to make a name for himself with Spurs and he feels he has to be back there with a new management and coaching staff.
“It’s not about the two clubs – it’s important the player has the full opportunity to live his dream and play in the Premiership with a top club.
“We will be okay. I’ll look at the situation and speak to the staff over the next few days.”
