Goals galore including two nine-goal thrillers

SEVEN Workington and District teams bagged themselves a second round tie in this year’s Divisional Cup last weekend.
There were two nine-goal thrillers to entertain the crowds too.
Firstly, Miners Arms lost out by one goal to Grasslot. Gavin Taylor (2), Andrew Besuskzo and Andrew Marshalsea scored for the home side but goals from Mark Brown (2), Martin Sewell, Gavin Walling and Daniel Herald won the game for Grasslot.
Then Senhouse beat Crosby 6-3.
Four goals for Gary Hunter and one a piece for Terry Warrior and Mike Dickinson sealed the match for Senhouse.
Phil Dixon, Paul Sloan and Jonathan Penn scored for the home side.
Elsewhere Red House were also among the goals as they beat The Well 6-1.
Chris Peacock hit a brace for the winners with Brendan Wilkinson (2), Steve Smith and Kieran Johnston also finding the net. Alan Fearon was the lone scorer for the Well.
FC 32 brushed aside Flimby to progress.
The Workington based side ran out 3-1 winners with a hat-trick for Stuart Gray. Dave Young pulled a consolation goal back for Flimby.
Letters Inn lost 3-2 to Seaton. Two goals from Andrew Milner and a penalty from Derek Tinkler settled the tie.
In return Dan Lloyd and Andrew Clark scored to Letters Inn.
Salterbeck beat Vine Bar 2-0. Mark Wilson and Scott Weston scored the decisive goals.
And finally in the cup a local derby as Captain Nelson beat fellow Maryport side William Hill to bag their name in the draw for round two.
Only two games were played in the league and both were in the Premier Division.
Yankees cruised to a 3-0 win over Red House. Andrew Rowntree and Graig Lewthwaite with the goals.
Bluebell lost 3-2 to Deer Orchard. Martin Watson and Kev Holiday netted for the home side but goals from Paul Williamson, Jackson Ralph and David O'Donnell gave the away team all three-points.
