NORA Jefferson has retired after almost 20 years as Border Charolais Club secretary

She became a popular figure promoting the breed at agricultural events in the county over the last two decades. During the club’s Christmas Cracker dinner at the Auctioneer in Carlisle, she was thanked for her hard work and presented with a Border Fine Art Charolais figure. At the annual meeting, David Holliday stood down as chairman and made way for Edward Foster from Hexham. Sophie Bell of Hallbankgate Farm has taken over as secretary. She said the club’s stand at last month’s Agri-Expo at Borderway raised £213 for the air ambulance with a guess the weight competition.
