Darren Edmondson is delighted to have brought the 19-year-old to Borough Park until the rest of the season and said he can have a big impact on the team’s chances of success.

Edmondson, who leads his side at Southport tomorrow, said: “Shaun is a quality player and he has done very well for us while he has been here.

“We are glad that he has decided to sign on until the end of the season and the fans will be happy too.”

Vipond scored three goals during his three-month stint at Borough Park and Edmondson is hoping he will add to his current tally.

He said: “We need to add goals from across the park and Shaun is definitely helping with that.

“He has three now and could have had more. We have a good player and we will talk to him again in the summer to see if we can extend his stay here.

“He has settled in well with the squad which is pleasing for him and for us. The dressing room is a good place to be. The lads get on well and we are building a good team-spirit at Borough Park.”

Edmondson is still looking to bolster his defence as Lee Andrews requires an operation on his knee next month.

He said: “It is important that we have cover for when Lee goes under the knife. I am still working hard to bring in someone and hopefully there will be some good news soon.

“It is frustrating but I am working on it. We just need to stay patient.”
