Players reach milestone

WORKINGTON Reds paid tribute to three of their longest serving players on Saturday.

Craig Johnston, Kyle May and Adam Collin were given awards for their service to the Borough Park club before the 3-1 win over Vauxhall on Saturday.

Each player has made more than 200 appearances in Workington colours with Johnston playing more than 200 league games for the club.

Boss Darren Edmondson said they have been great servants to the club.

He said: “They have all been great for us. Craig has been here the longest and it is nice for the club to recognise them for their efforts and the work they have put in to play for this club.

“Craig has played more than 200 league appearances for us which is practically unheard of nowadays.

“Adam is a great shot-stopper and this season there has been speculation that he will leave us. There have been scouts watching him but hopefully we will be able to keep hold of him.

“And Kyle has been a stalwart for us. He really is one of the most consistent players we have had for years.”

Each player was given a glass trophy marking the occasion. with Edmondson adding: “I want to build a team around these guys. They are enthusiastic guys who have a great attitude and help make the atmosphere in our dressing room as good as it is. “They all deserve their awards.”
