Wright and Arnison partnership key to Workington Reds success

The partnership between strikers Jonny Wright and Gareth Arnison is key to success, according to boss Darren Edmondson.
The deadly duo have notched up 16 goals between them in all competitions this season and both were on the score sheet again during Saturday’s 3-1 win over Vauxhall Motors.
Edmondson said his side deserved to win the game and added: “The two lads up front Jonny and Gareth worked hard all game and took their goals well.
“I brought them off late on and the response from the fans was great and deservedly so. They are smart lads both on and off the pitch and with a little more belief in themselves then we could have a formidable front line for years to come.”
Wright, 23, has eight league goals to his name while 22-year-old Arnison has five league goals and three in the Cumberland Cup.
Arnison has also been accredited with Reds’ third goal on Saturday. Originally it had been given to the on-song Anthony Wright, but after close analysis the goal has now been awarded to Arnison, meaning he has netted five times in his last two outings.
Edmondson said: “It is important that we keep hold of them. The goals that we scored against Vauxhall were quality. For Jonny to side-foot home from outside of the box shows he has class. Gareth took his goal well too. These two lads can fire us up the league, I am sure of that.”
