Whitehaven v Workington friendly frozen off again

Whitehaven and Workington Town will have a final chance to cash in on a west Cumbrian clash next weekend after Sunday's derby fell victim to the cold snap for a second time.
The clubs share the gate revenue, and with a bumper crowd expected at the Recre, both clubs could expect to clear several thousand pounds from the match.
The Recre pitch was still frozen on Saturday, leaving officials no choice but to call off the game.
If the traditional holiday derby is to go ahead, it must be played next weekend, as the clubs then have other pre-season matches lined up.
Haven travel to Widnes mid-month and follow up with home games against Swinton and Bradford Bulls before launching their Northern Rail Cup campaign.
The hosts should have on-loan Academy international scrum-half Gregg McNallly available to play next week. He would have missed out this weekend as his new club Huddersfield want him to debut in a friendly at Halifax.
Coach Ged Stokes said:” I can understand that Huddersfield wanted Gregg to play for them. They want their supporters to have a look at their new signing, and I don’t think this will happen too often. We understand the situation.
“We still have a fair number of players unavailable. It will be quite exciting when we settle down and can pick from a full squad.”
