On the 5th October 1965 The Rolling Stones made their second visit to the ABC theatre in Carlisle, but not until they had kept the audience waiting for ten minutes, a restless wait for their fans. Their car broke down on the M6 and could not be repaired at the roadside, so they transferred to a hire car and were finally taken to the theatre by police van.
