Things ain't what they used to be

THINGS certainly ain’t what they used to be. Why, even telephone cold callers can’t be bovvered to annoy you in person any more.
Recently I have been pestered by around half a dozen calls a day which, when you pick up the phone, simply play you a tape recording then invite you to ring back.
In the old days at least you could tell’em to shove off in person.
