Also in the car was a 43-year-old man from the Salterbeck area of Workington. He sustained serious injuries.
He was initially taken to the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, but transferred to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary. His condition was today described as serious but stable.
The accident happened at a sharp bend near the A596 junction with Rye Hill Road, at about 5.40am.
The car was travelling from Workington in the direction of Maryport. Police are still trying to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Ms Glencross was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner for north and west Cumbria has been informed and an inquest is expected to be opened early next week.
As a result of the accident, the busy main road was closed for almost five hours. Diversions were put in place until it reopened at 10.30am.
