Former Attorney General Lord Goldsmith has suggested that young people should be encouraged to undergo a citizenship ceremony including an oath of allegiance. Imagine a completely British existence, where everything not adhering to strict guidelines is banned. Every car, food and even landmark having to pass a test of Britishness before being granted entry into this brave new world of Bulldogs and Bentleys.

The Coach House Club wasn’t just about getting big names to augment the normal sessions as members had been used to special events in earlier years at Kirklinton Hall and as fancy dress was in vogue in those days, Midsummer balls, Halloween parties, etc were often organised.
