VAT: to claim or not to claim, that is the question

FOR an ordinary farming business, VAT is usually not too much of a problem. The main farming sales – milk, cattle, sheep, crop, etc are all zero rated and hence VAT does not have to be charged on them. However, VAT incurred on normal farming expenses can be recovered from HMRC meaning that most farms get a regular repayment of VAT.
