Previous entry: Maturing Lewis dealt with Barney and lively crowd
Week 10 and the Premier League visits Sheffield. A good memory from there came a few years ago at the same venue when the camera panned over to the crowd and the famous footballer Robbie Savage came into view and everyone in the arena went berserk.
I have had my fair share of adverse crowd reactions in my time but it was nothing to the stick Robbie received.
He took it all very well and even seemed to enjoy it as he began goading the crowd into giving him more. I have to say I was most impressed – even if the players on stage at the time weren’t so pleased – and the game had to eventually stop for a few moments until order was restored.
The top players now seem to deal with the big crowds as part and parcel of the game and the odd one or two moaners who remain are now in the minority. If you don’t like it put your darts away and get a job in a library is what I say.
Take care, Peter.
Terry Jenkins vs Adrian Lewis
Terry hasn’t been playing well and is meeting a player in Adrian who has hit a bit of form. In the past Adrian has slipped up in games he should win and if he wants to be considered a contender he needs to do the business here.
Ronnie Baxter vs Mervyn King
Two no-nonsense players who have been around the block and a ding-dong game should ensue. Both are coming off the back of defeats and also need to get their campaigns back on track. Two hungry players should be on the oche and a good game is in prospect.
Phil Taylor vs James Wade
James needs a win and to also make a statement of his intent to regain his Premier League title. What better way of doing both than taking the scalp of Phil. However Phil will want to make a statement of his own, as a result darting fireworks should ensue
Raymond van Barneveld v Simon Whitlock
Simon has settled into life on the big stage very well and seems to be revelling in his new life as a big time darts star. It’s in stark contrast to Raymond who doesn’t seem happy with things at the moment. Unless Raymond can sort himself out he will be on the receiving end of a defeat here.
