Aarnio given all-clear to ride for Workington Comets at Redcar

Tero Aarnio has been passed fit to ride for Workington Comets tonight in a Premier League match at Redcar.

The Finn was a casualty in Sunday’s controversial meeting at Newcastle but has shrugged off knocks to take his place.

Rene Bach was another rider to suffer on the Brough Park circuit but he too is ready to resume against the Bears.

But reserve Carl Howarth wasn’t so lucky as two falls left him with three separate injuries and his season is over.

Workington will have to use guests as reserves at their three meetings on the bounce as they travel to Scunthorpe tomorrow and host Sheffield on Saturday night.

James Holder from Plymouth Devils, brother of Grand Prix rider Chris Holder, will fill in at Redcar.

Owner Keith Denham said: “It has been very, very difficult to sort out reserve guests for three successive meetings. We have been left with very few alternatives.”
