Cumbria police probe after moving car 'shot at' by yobs

A motorist was left shaken after yobs fired an air weapon or catapult at his moving car in Workington.

The terrifying incident happened at about 10.30pm yesterday on Northside Road.

A Workington man was driving his Volvo car along the road, in the direction of the town centre, when a number of objects bounced off the vehicle.

A spokeswoman for Cumbria police said: “It was struck by unknown objects which had been discharged at the vehicle by an air weapon, catapult or something similar.”

The car was damaged down one side and the driver was left shaken.

Witnesses are urged to contact Workington police on 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
