A 32-year-old father-to-be who smoked 10 joints of cannabis a day got help for his addiction after being told by his partner to sort himself out.
Stephen Joseph Collins, of Eden Grove, Lazonby, admitted producing the drug when he appeared before Carlisle magistrates’ court. He said he had a problem with drugs, but was now getting help from CADAS in Carlisle after his partner fell pregnant.
He said the drugs were for his own use.
Diane Jackson, prosecuting, told the court that police officers searching his home found a quantity of seedlings and three larger cultivated plants.
Special lighting and heat equipment was also found and a quantity of bush cannabis.
He was given a one-year community order with probation service supervision.
