Cumbrian girl, two, trapped in car

A two-year-old girl was trapped for half an hour when she locked herself in a car.

The toddler had been playing in the vehicle outside her home at St Bees yesterday afternoon when she pressed a button to lock the doors.

She was in the care of her grandparents who became alarmed as the temperature climbed in the sunshine.

They called firefighters who were about to smash their way into the car when a spare set of keys was found.

The girl was unhurt and did not require medical attention.

Crew manager Ian Thorneycroft, of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, said:
