Douglas and Anthony set for Penrith return

Penrith hope to have key players Graham Anthony and Dean Douglas back for the weekend visit of Stokesley to Frenchfields.
Midfield lynch-pin Anthony and winger Douglas could return after missing Wednesday night’s draw with Norton and Stockton Ancients, but full-back Matty Brown is out with a hamstring injury and Ben Jackson, who signed last month from Workington Reds, is away on holiday and will miss out.
Boss James Tose is hoping that his side can improve on their midweek result, when they were very unfortunate not to come away from Teeside with a victory. “It’s a big game for us on Saturday, and three points would help move us away from the drop zone so we’ll be looking to get the win against a good side.”
Meanwhile, in division two, Gillford Park play host to Whickham at the Copeland Stadium in Whitehaven on Saturday.
Having just had the bare 11 for Tuesday night’s win at Horden, joint bosses Steve Skinner and Stuart Bell hope to have experienced trio Pete Ferris, David Lynn and leading scorer Mike Reed back in contention to face fifth-placed Whickham, and Matthew Read could also return after work commitments to complete an expected squad of 15.
“We need to keep the winning mentality and momentum going after Tuesday night,” said Skinner. “It’s given us a boost and hopefully we can carry that form on to Saturday.”
