perriam193 When Matthew Nutter wrote about the Eden Bridges in 1835 he stated that the scheme “was commenced in the autumn of 1812”.But in December the newspaper was able to announce progress: “A considerable quantity of material has been, and continues to be, deposited there in an attempt to fill the pond up.”
