Cops seize deadly drug haul

DEADLY high strength drugs have been seized from a house in Whitehaven following a police raid.

The drugs – Valium and Temazepam – are said to be extra high strength and could be fatal if mixed with alcohol, police warned.

They said a “considerable” number of the tablets had been seized.

“We don’t know if any of the drugs are on the streets and want to warn people of their existence,” a spokesman said. “They could be potentially fatal.”

He said anyone buying Valium or Temazepam from a dealer risked buying these high-strength drugs.

“If drugs are bought over the counter on a genuine prescription, they are fine,” he added. “Otherwise, the risk is that people could be buying these high strength drugs.”

A 32-year-old man was arrested by police in connection with the raid, which occurred yesterday at a house in Grizdale Close at 2.30pm. He was released on bail pending further inquiries.
