A66 at Keswick reopens after two-vehicle crash A66

The A66 near Threlkeld has reopened after a two-vehicle crash this morning

Emergency services dealt with the collision that occurred at 9.24am  on the A66 near Threlkeld.

A Mercedes estate car and a Ford Range pick-up were involved in the incident.

Two air ambulances from the Great North Air Ambulance Service and a third from the North West Air Ambulance was also sent to the scene.

All casualties have been taken to hospital, some by air ambulance.

A spokesman for the GNAAS said children were involved and one person had to be anesthetized at the scene.

The Mercedes estate burst into flames, however all occupants had been pulled from the vehicle prior to the fire starting.

The road will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

The A66 is closed in both directions between Penrith and the A591 junction in Keswick.

Diversions are in operation.
