Memories came flooding back upon seeing the Ritz once again. Not having lived in Workington since 1987, the changes I see on "coming home" are quite drastic.

looking at the picture of the old ritz cinema , again another error by the council not keeping the facia of this building. along with all the sand stone / frontage from the old colledge

The town has made great strides to improves it image and to drag itself forward.

Its a shame the same cannot be said of the Rugby League Team. here's hoping!

Many of the photos of before and after only show minor changes whereas if the before pictures went as far back as say 1950 the changes would be enormous and probably be of more interest to readers. For example the view from Northside Bridge would have shown 3 rows of terraced houses (I was born there in 1949) which were demolished some years ago, there is a complete street that has been obliterated by the development of Washington Street as you go towards Hall Brow etc.
