West Cumbrian solicitor Tim Frost has died.
Mr Frost, a director with law firm KJ Commons, which has offices in Workington, Whitehaven and Carlisle, had been battling a rare form of cancer.
He was diagnosed with granular cell astrocytoma, which is malignant and extremely fast-growing in September 2011.
He had been suffering blinding headaches on holiday in Croatia, but after intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy he went into remission.
The cancer was so rare that it took doctors three weeks to diagnose it.
However, the cancer returned last year.
A statement from KJ Commons said: "It is with great sadness and regret that we have to announce the death earlier today of our dear friend and colleague Tim Frost, a director at KJ Commons since 2010.
"After a long battle with cancer, Tim died peacefully at home. Our thoughts are with his civil partner John, his family and his many friends."

We walked into Tim's office as clients and left as friends. He was a true gentleman. We will remember him with great fondness. Keith and Rose.
A truly wonderful man. The world is a smaller place without him in it.
