January restart for Cockermouth flood-hit brewery Jennings

Flood-hit Jennings is set to restart work at its historic Cockermouth brewery in January.
And, until then, 10p from every pint of its beers sold in the UK will be donated to the Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund.
A beer pump clip explaining the donation to drinkers has been posted to all pubs that stock Jennings ale.
Jennings’ famous Castle Brewery site was swamped under 5ft of water during the floods. Staff have been carrying out a massive clean-up operation over the past few days.
Bosses have assessed the scale of damage and are now confident production can begin again by mid-January.
Brewing has temporarily been moved to Jennings’ sister breweries, all part of the Marston’s group. That means beers including Jennings Bitter, Cumberland Ale, Sneck Lifter and Cocker Hoop will remain available during the crucial Christmas period.
Tours of the brewery are expected to restart shortly after the reopening.
