An array of classic cars and a vast selection of new motors will be showcased in Whitehaven this weekend.

Car enthusiasts are invited to the Whitehaven Harbour Motor Show on the harbourside on Saturday and Sunday.

This is an opportunity to check out the latest models from some of Cumbria’s biggest and best car dealers.

The show, now in its seventh year, is being organised by CN Events in association with Cumbria Life.

It will feature dealers including Border Cars, J Edgars, Ullswater Road Garage, Cumbria Car Care, Sytner Mercedes, Lookers Renault, Lloyds, Stan Palmer, Honda, Arnold Clark and Ford.

On Saturday, there will also be cars from the classic car clubs, including 40 classic minis.

People can go along to the show on Saturday from 10am until 5pm, and on Sunday from 10am until 4pm.

The motor show, which is now in its seventh year, will also feature competitions, street theatre and fairground rides.

Marie Whitehead, director of CN Events, said: “You can expect to see some fantastic cars from local dealers as well as competitions, fairground rides and street theatre.”

She said the show has been “a great success” over the years.

Crowds are set to be drawn to Whitehaven as the motor show coincides with the town’s first ever Taste Cumbria festival.

The food extravaganza will be held in the town centre and harbourside on Saturday and Sunday.

Mrs Whitehead said: “We are really excited to bring this event to Whitehaven, as we know Whitehaven gets great support from people for events and festivals.

“This event complements the Taste Cumbria calendar perfectly, as we have been keen to stage a summer event, which will attract tourists as well as people from all over Cumbria.”

The free food festival will feature stalls on King Street and Market Place, cookery demonstrations by chefs including Jon Fell and Gary McClure and a beer festival at the hub on the harbour.

Music will be provided by musicians including Sophia Brenan, Chris James and Beachmaster.
