CARLISLE city roadworks are causing frustration and long delays for motorists.
There are long queues and long waits around Hardwicke Circus.
One motorist said: "The backlog caused by the roadworks was awful. I was at a complete standstill in traffic for the best part of 20 minutes. There is no ability to turn back.
"I'd avoid the area if possible."
Yesterday a lane closure on the A7 from Stanwix Bank to Hardwicke had traffic congestion all the way back to Kingstown.
The delays have been caused by multiple roadworks around the city affecting many roadways.
An accident which caused delays n the southbound lane of the A75 between Eaglesfield and Kirkpatrick Flemming could also have a knock on effect from vehicles travelling from Scotland.
