A town council has said that an emergency road closure has been put in place due to a dangerous gas leak.
Wigton Town Council said that the road closure, which is on Longthwaite Road from its junction with Springfields in Wigton, has been put in place due to a "likelihood of danger as a result of a gas leak".
The notice will be in force for a period of up to 21 days from December 14, "as and when the relevant signs are displayed," the council added.
A spokesperson for Wigton Town Council said: "An emergency road closure has been put in place due to the likelihood of danger as a result of a gas leak on the Norther Gas Network.
"It is anticipated that the restriction will be required for 7 days."
The council added that there is an alternative route "via the unrestricted sections of Longthwaite Road, Cuddy Lonning, the B5304 and South End.
