A West Cumbria Mayor had his property damaged overnight due to collapsed scaffolding in high winds.
Peter Kendall, mayor of Maryport, woke up this morning, April 12, to see his car and other items he owned were damaged due to scaffolding that had fallen from the house next door.
The area has now been cleared by law enforcement and Paton Scaffolders who the equipment belonged too.
The mayor's house is located on North Street in Maryport.
Mr Kendall said: "My neighbor had Paton Scaffolding here to do repairs, the repairs have been done and because the scaffolding is still up it came adrift in the high wind and damaged my car and two others on the street."
According to Mr Kendall the police had instructed Paton to remove the scaffolding, the police said that they needed to open the street again as it's a side street.
The bad weather however seems to have caused a considerable amount of damage across the county.
Cumbria Police announced that trees across the county had fallen due to the high winds and rain through the night.
They urged people who were out and about to be careful, this is especially important when traveling on roads or using transport as trees or other objects may have fallen into the road.
