MARYPORT residents will meet next week to look at the future of between 70 and 80 sycamore trees which could be felled by Cumberland County Council.
The trees, to the north of Ingleby Terrace and North Street would be felled bu the stumps and roots would be left to ensure the bank on which they grow would remain stable and they would eventually grow again.
Cumberland Council's parks and open spaces senior officer, Julian Smith, in an email, said residents he had spoken to had agreed to pay towards the cost of removing the trees that blocked their view to the sea.
He noted that the town council had offered to contribute to the work. Committee members agreed to postpone a decision until they knew the cost involved.
