THERE have been growing issues with quad bikes being stolen in rural areas.

The Cumbria Police Rural Crime Team has dealt with several incidents involving the vehicles being stolen.

Places like Allerdale have been particularly affected by this type of crime.

A police spokesperson said: "Over the last week, we have seen four separate incidents of quads being stolen in overnight rural burglaries across the county.

"Fortunately, two of these have been recovered - credit to the Roads Policing Unit, Dog Unit, and Section 1 at Workington.

"Allerdale is being targeted most, so we would urge quad owners in this area especially to secure property and encourage the use of trackers and immobilisers.

"We also suggest property marking with SelectaDNA or Datatag ID Limited. Install CCTV and good lighting and advertise this with signage.

"Having a note of the VIN number for your vehicles and some photos also helps us to recover the property."
