A MARYPORT business owner has thanked her clients after raising over £1,000 for local charities in a fundraising drive over the festive period.
Lynne Younghusband, owner of Fantasia Beauty on Wood Street in Maryport has this year raised £1,360 for men's mental health charities Andy's Man Club and Oreet Marra's.
It is the most the beauty salon owner has ever raised in a number of similar charity drives she has carried out over the last 11 and a half years of her business.
Since opening her business Lynne and her customers have raised a total of £10,310 for charities including Great North Air Ambulance, Sea cadets, Scouts, Maryport rescue and Jigsaw.
Speaking about the fundraising, Lynne said: "The first year I opened was July 2012 and I decided at Christmas time to do a festive day with 10% off all goods bought and free wine and nibbles and a raffle to raise money for local charities.
"To which I raised £92, I was chuffed and the following year, they all asked me to do it again so therefore I've done it every year, it's hard work but I love it, and everyone looks forward to it, making a save the date in their diary.
"I just want to say thank you, I wouldn't be still there now if it wasn't for them (her customers) supporting me.
"Thank you for their support, thank you for helping me to raise this money because without them I would never have been able to.
"It's just over £10,000 in 11 and a half year, I'm only a small business on my own with a few hundred clients so I just want to say thank you to everybody."
