TWO West Cumbrian rotary clubs came together to provide 250 free theatre tickets and transport to children and families across the area.
Cockermouth Rotary working in partnership with Bassenthwaite Rotary Club, Theatre by the Lake and English Lakes Ice Creams, had a busy December with lots going on.
This included offering 250 free tickets and transport to Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake to watch a performance of ‘A Little Princess’.
The transport was organised with Workington Heritage buses so interesting for folk to travel on some of our old style buses. Also everybody who attended were given a free English Lakes ice cream.
Sharon Barnes, Community Engagement Officer at The Centre Maryport, said: "Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to have such a fantastic night last night. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. There were quite a few children who were amazed by the show.
"The journey back was the best for me. Listening to them describing what the show meant to them. I know for a fact that most on the trip hadn’t been to the theatre before."
