Spaces are quickly filling up for the most recent craft workshops held in Cockermouth.

The latest series, set for February and held at the Kirkgate Centre, comprises three skill-mastering sessions.

The linocut session, scheduled for February 3, led by Vega Brennan, is already sold out.

However, slots are available for the willow weave bird feeder workshop on February 10 and punchneedle class on February 24.

Kirkgate general manager Emma Heys said: "We are keen to give people the opportunity to explore their own creativity in these hands-on sessions.

"You will learn new skills and have a beautiful hand-made item to take home at the end of the day."

Participants in the willow weave bird feeder class, conducted by Ruth Thompson from Sylvan Skills, will be walked-through techniques of weaving willow to create a bird feeder.

Ms Heys added: "This workshop is aimed at beginners - so don't worry if you're new to the craft.

"Refreshments and a light lunch are provided and the session will run from 10.30am to 2pm."

Participation in the class costs £50 with tickets available online.

The punchneedle workshop will introduce novices to the art form.

Ms Heys said: "We will be using chunky yarn and monks cloth to create a coaster of 15cm in diameter with a felt backing.

"The pattern used will be of a simple Cumbrian scene of mountains, streams, fields and sky and the participants will be able to choose their own colour scheme."

The class costs £35, tea and coffee included, with tickets sold online.
