A TOWN'S largest adult choir will perform the music of Mozart in the town early next month.
Cockermouth Harmonic Society’s performance of Mozart’s Requiem will take place on Friday, February 2 at St Joseph’s RC Church, Crown Street at 7.30pm.
Also on the programme is a selection of music for the funerals of British queens - Purcell’s funeral music for Queen Mary; Handel’s funeral anthem for Queen Caroline; and Judith Weir’s setting of Psalm 42 for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Ian Wright will conduct the choir and soloists will include Fiona Weakley, Anne-Marie Kerr, Cameron Mitchell and Paul Im Thurn, all Cumbria-based.
The Throstle Sinfonia, including brass and woodwind, will accompany the singers.
Tickets will cost £15 (£14 from a choir member) or £5 for under 16s.
Tickets are available from Billy Bowman’s music shop in Cockermouth, 01900 826708, or from choir members.
