A LAKE District restaurant is 'delighted' to have retained its Michelin star in the 2024 guide - with its husband and wife owners saying the achievement is a 'dream come true' for them.
The Cottage in the Wood at Whinlatter Forest, Keswick has retained it Michelin star following the Michelin Guide Ceremony 2024, held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on Monday, February 5, where the new Michelin stars were unveiled.
The Cottage in the Wood is one of thirteen other restaurants in the county to hold a Michelin star, with Cumbria punching above its weight in the UK restaurant and dining scene.
On top of its already 11 Michelin stars held last in 2023, two new Cumbrian restaurants were added to the list: Cedar Tree by Hrishikesh Desai at Farlam Hall in Brampton and Lake Road Kitchen, Ambleside.
Jack and Beth have only started operating the restaurant in January of this year and say the Michelin star excites them for the future.
Jack and Beth Bond said: “We only took over operating ‘The Cottage’ at the start of the year, and we’ve already been made to feel so welcome by the local guests we’ve met.
"We’re honoured and delighted to have retained our Michelin Star alongside fellow Cumbrian restaurants. It’s a dream come true for us. We’re excited for the future and to see what else we can achieve.”
