The second Food Bank Run held in Cockermouth saw 136 participants donate 300kg of food.

The charitable initiative, designed to support the North Lakes Foodbank, has now been earmarked as an annual event following its success on March 3.

The run was organised by Bodyfit Cumbria in partnership with the North Lakes Foodbank, with a multitude of local children participating, including members of the Scouts.

Foodbank director, Andrew Robinson together with a dedicated volunteer team welcomed the runners as they arrived to make their donations in support of the community's most in need.

Mr. Robinson said: "The North Lakes Foodbank was set up 15 years ago to help people in our local community.

"We rely on donations of food made by individuals who want to support their neighbours in need and events like this Food Bank Run help us to continue to do that".

In 2023, the North Lakes Foodbank helped provide emergency food to feed 6,735 people (4,693 adults and 2,042 children).
