ALL roads will lead to Carlisle today and tomorrow for a world class, multi-national dairy showcase.

More than 7,000 farmers, traders, and industry experts will come together to help make the 2024 Borderway UK Dairy Expo the best the British dairy industry has to offer.

This year’s showcase offers visitors a record entry of over 460 dairy cattle boasting some of the world’s top genetics from seven different breeds.

Entries from Cumbria include last years’ overall Supreme Champion, Thursby’s Evening Holsteins. Others from the county showing in the Holstein classes are Crossfell Holsteins from Penrith; Lightning Holsteins from Appleby in Westmoreland; and The Dennison family from Scales Park Farm, Ulverston. Messrs Armstrong from Maryport will show in the Red & White classes; and JMJ Fisher & Daughters from Holmwrangle Farm, Armathwaite, will be showing in the Shorthorn classes.

UK Dairy Expo Event Organiser, Glyn Lucas, believes that the success of the event is a vital demonstration of the health of British dairy farming. “The continuing development of our dairy industry is absolutely crucial to the supply of the highest quality dairy produce for UK consumers. And, we are absolutely delighted to be able to give our industry a globally respected stage to show their wonderful cattle and the advances that are being made in technology and systems that are helping our farmers to futureproof their enterprises and build a successful future.

“Our line-up of international judges this year reinforces the status of the event, and we are incredibly grateful to our judges for travelling round the world to take on the daunting task of picking our show winners from the formidable line-up of such outstanding livestock, and from the next generation of dairy farmers who will be competing for honours this year.”

The event is expected to attract a global audience from as far away as the US, Australia and New Zealand through live-streaming.
