A Cumbrian care provider has announced a new 24-hour service which allows people to stay at home while receiving care.
Bellcare, located in Workington, has recognised a surge in enquiries for around-the-clock care and developed a package to meet the growing demand of the local community.
The department of health and social care implies that there will be a 57 per cent increase in adults aged 65 and over in England needing care in 2038 compared to 2018.
Homecare providers similar to Bellcare are also seeing a substantial rise in demand for discharge services from hospitals.
64 per cent of providers nationwide have noted a surge in the quantity of care packages for those being released from hospital.
Registered manager, Debbie Ellwood said: "We have had many enquiries for round-the-clock care that, in the past, which we haven’t been able to provide.
"It’s thanks to our continued growth and colleagues that we are now in a position to be able to offer the highly-requested 24-hour care that so many people have been asking for in the comfort of their homes."
She continued by stating that the new packages are made to support individuals who require additional care yet wish to remain in their own homes.
These packages are designed for people who cannot be left alone and need to take their medication frequently throughout a 24-hour period, with carers offering both waking and sleeping shifts.
Apart from the 24-hour package, Bellcare also provides more flexible options, tailoring to the service users’ needs.
These packages can be extended beyond the standard 30-minute or hour house calls if necessary.
Carol Wilson, Bellcare’s managing director, said: "More and more people are looking for ways to stay independent in their own homes for longer, and with a rising demand for longer hours of care, our new package will give peace of mind to many families, while allowing their loved ones to remain in the comfort of their surroundings."
