With Easter holidays upon us there’s no better time to enjoy a cruise on England’s largest natural lake – Windermere.

Not only do you get to savour the spectacular scenery but traditional steamers and modern launches take you within minutes of a whole collection of Easter events and attractions.

On top of that it gives you the chance to leave the car behind for once to go exploring on water and land.

The varied routes provided by Windermere Lake Cruises offer the flexibility to disembark and explore many attractions along the way.

How about a family favourite – The Golden Bunny Easter Egg Hunt at Brockhole which takes place from Friday, March 29 to Friday, April 5? The Windermere Lake Cruises’ Red Cruise stops at Brockhole Pier for the Lake District Visitor Centre and you can pick up a trail sheet in the Woodland Cabin or gift shop to take part.

If you fancy something a bit crafty, take the Red Cruise from Bowness Pier and head to the Windermere Jetty Museum where you can build your own model boat from recycled materials. It takes place from 11am to 3.45pm, March 29 to April 14.

A five minute walk from Windermere Lake Cruises’ Bowness Pier takes you to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction which is staging a Meet Beatrix Potter’s Animals event on Monday, April 1, from 10.30am to 5pm.

You can get to the Bowness Pier by taking the Yellow Cruise from Lakeside or the Red Cruise from Ambleside or Brockhole.

Times and Star:
There are plenty of Easter Egg hunts within easy reach of a cruise route. How about the one at Wray Castle from March 23 to April 7 (10am to 4pm)? There are regular boat services to Ambleside from Wray Castle on the Green Cruise.

You can save money on your day out with combined tickets which give you a cruise and a visit to another attraction like the Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow with its incredible collection of vintage and classic vehicles. You can visit the museum up to five days from your cruise so there’s no need to cram everything into one day!

Don’t forget, residents living in Cumbria or parts of North Lancashire can apply for a free Local Residents Discount Card which gives 50 per cent off both a cruise and Lakeland Motor Museum entry up until May 1.

After that you still qualify for a 20 per cent discount. Anyone with LA or CA post codes can apply. So, in the season of the Easter Bunny, why not hop over to Windermere for a day out you’ll remember?
