A Cumbrian accountancy firm has appointed a new partner.

Robinson+co, noted for its services across West Cumbria, promoted a senior staff member, Matthew Welsh, to partner status this month.

Mr Welsh, an accounting expert who specialises in value-added tax (VAT), has found his home at Robinson+co for nearly ten years at their office in Workington.

He is ACA qualified and was an associate of the firm, working with the larger audit clients.

With his promotion, the firm's leadership team will increase from four to five partners.

Mr Welsh is excited about the progress in his career.

He said: "I'm thrilled to begin this new chapter at robinson+co in a partnership role after a nearly decade of service.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the practice so far and look forward to continuing to work alongside colleagues servicing the diverse range of great clients we have across West Cumbria and beyond."

He also expressed his joy over the company culture, stating: "robinson+co have always took great pride in helping colleagues like me to enhance our careers and experience, whilst in turn providing invaluable expertise to our clients."

Robinson+co demonstrated its growth momentum with a recent acquisition, enriching opportunities for the partners.

"It's a great opportunity to contribute to the firm's growth and continue delivering excellence to our clients, especially as we are in exciting times with the recent acquisition of DHC Accounting Limited," Mr Welsh added.

Peter Ellwood, the managing partner at Robinson+co, applauded Mr Welsh's commitment and the value he has brought to the team and their clients.

He said: "Matthew has shown his dedication not only to the profession but to our clients over the ten years he’s worked with us, it’s a well-deserved promotion.

"I’m certain that he will be a great addition to our group of partners as we continue to grow our practice, client base and offering."
